Maggie has been held captive in the attic by her daughter Nina for years, and the novel alternates between their perspectives as long-buried secrets about their shared past come out. Twisty and mean-spirited by design, it's less supernatural horror than psychological/domestic thriller with genuinely disturbing reveals.

Vibe: An unreliable-narrator horror puzzle box about a strange house, a missing girl, and a cat who might be the most trustworthy narrator in the book.
Ted lives alone (mostly) in a boarded-up house near the site of a child's disappearance years earlier, and something is clearly very wrong with him, his daughter, and the cat who also narrates parts of the book. Told from shifting, unreliable perspectives, it builds toward a series of twists that recontextualize everything that came before.
